ABOUT US

Cherish Vintage Tearoom is a much loved business owned by Louise Pickering. Having grown up in a family of foodies it was inevitable that the bug would be inherited! After looking for suitable premises for around 3 years, the old Post Office building in Gullane was the perfect place. With great support from the local community, family and friends the old Post Office building was lovingly converted into Cherish Vintage Tearoom. Enjoy a trip back in time as you listen to nostalgic music and dine from original vintage china.

louise

Louise is the proprietor of Cherish Vintage Tearoom & Emporium. Her love of food and cooking stems from a childhood spent helping out her mum at a local food training college as well as visiting her uncle who worked as a patissier at many famous London hotels including The Ritz! Louise has enjoyed travelling and tasting her way around the world and has taken part in numerous training courses focusing on international cuisine. In 2013 Louise gained a place in the final of a Masterchef style competition where she had the opportunity to create an historical menu and cook in a professional restaurant for 50 people. Having left a teaching career to pursue her dream, Louise is very excited to be combining her passion for food and history by opening Cherish Vintage Tearoom & Emporium. She looks forward to welcoming you soon!

gary ferguson

Returning from serving in the Falklands, Gary opened his own café in the late 1980s in Kircaldy, Fife. He then went on to manage the famous ‘Old Howgate Inn’ near Penicuik in Midlothian. Recently, Gary has enjoyed making jams and chutneys which have gone down a storm at local craft fairs. Gary enjoys football and is an avid armchair supporter of his beloved Glasgow Rangers.

Gary is joining the Cherish team part time and I’m sure his wealth of experience and expertise will prove to be invaluable.

After studying bakery, cake decorating & flour confectionary Ann joined the catering corps of the Royal Air Force where she was responsible for feeding around 100 every day in the Officer’s Mess at RAF Leeming. She even got to cook for the Queen Mother on an official visit to the base; she enjoyed a fillet of plaice followed by strawberries and clotted cream!

Since leaving the force Ann has worked in various food supervisory and education roles. She now enjoys catering for events as well as creating amazing wedding and celebration cakes. Ann is joining the Cherish team part time and will be focusing on a range of home baked cakes, scones and sweet treats.
